Apple Tree Preschool Glenfield | Our Staff

Ban, supervisor

"I have been involved in early childcare since 2000. I believe that the first five years of a child's life is crucial. I have tried to design a 'home away from home' environment where opportunities are provided to help children reach their full potential."

Karissa, head teacher

“I am a fully qualified registered teacher and have been working in Apple Tree Preschool for five years. This year I am the new head teacher. My passion is extending the children’s learning through many experiences, one of them being baking. My strength is writing learning stories about children’s development.”

"I moved to New Zealand at the age of 9 with my parents, sister and brother, from former Yugoslavia. I gained my Bachelor of Education in 2012 and have been working since then at Apple Tree. I have been working with children for the past 7 years. I want to provide children with an environment that is physically safe, emotionally nurturing and cognitively challenging."

"I am a New Zealand-born Chinese and I can speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and a bit of Japanese, feel free to speak to me in these languages. I am one of the two transition teachers that work between Apple Tree Childcare and Apple Tree Preschool so that children transitioning to preschool will see a familiar face, helping them to settle in."

“I am a qualified registered teacher. I was a primary school teacher for ten years in the Philippines. Because of this experience I am the teacher responsible for getting the children ready for their transition to school. I love children, as I love being a part of their learning. My strength is introducing new crafts and activities which will enhance their psychomotor, cognitive and affective skills.”

"Kia ora, I am a mum of two. I come from a beautiful place in the Bay of Islands called TeRawhiti and I am a ngaPuhi decendent. I am a fully qualified/registered teacher and aim to encourage the use of Te Reo within our daily programme. I am the toddlers’ teacher, working towards their transition to Preschool, and encouraging them to be confident, capable and independent individual learners."

Our cheerful and lively staff member from Colombia, Luz, is a mother of two boys, and is interested in our children's well being, providing support to staff whenever required.
